Software and tools I use.
I'm a big fan of the tools I use, and I'm always looking for new ones to try. Here's a list of the software and tools I use on a daily basis. I plan to expand this list over time.
Workstation
16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2021)
So far so good with this new generation of processor.
LG 5K 27 inch Monitor / LG 27UN880-B Ultrafine
I purchased this monitor when Apple first released the partnership with LG. It’s finally showing signs of fatigue and ghosting. Likely going to replace it soon. I use the Ultrafine in vertical orientation as a second monitor. It’s a great monitor for the price.
Sit / Stand Desk
Many years ago I purchased a few standing desks for the office. I can’t remember the manufacturer but will update this once I do. I extended and customized it with a maple butcher block top.
Logitech MX Master 2S
This is one of the better mice I’ve ever used. I’ve had it for years and it’s still going strong. I recently tried the MX Master 3 but it’s small for my hands and gave me cramps.
Steelcase Leap Chair
One of the best chairs I purchased these when I had an office. It’s sturdy and will last for years.
Development tools
VS Code
Switched after years of using Sublime Text, Atom, and TextMate and haven’t looked back. I use the Material Theme and Material Icon Theme.
iTerm2
I’m honestly not even sure what features I get with this that aren’t just part of the macOS Terminal but it’s what I use.
GitKraken
I’ve tried a few different Git GUIs and this is the one I keep coming back to.
Software
Figma
My primary interface design tool. I use it for everything from wireframes to high fidelity designs.
Sketch
I was a diehard Sketch user for years. I still use it for opening old designs but have been using Figma exclusively since its launch.
Adobe Creative Suite
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t use Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. I’ve been using these tools for over 20 years and they’re still the best.
